The right type of fabric, not only color and pattern, but also fabric content are important when choosing fabric for your custom window treatment. Consider the durability of a fabric. Do you get a lot of sun through the window? If so, you may decide against silk as it fades and deteriorates rather quickly due to sun damage. A faux or poly-silk may be the better option. Will the fabric drape as designed? Some fabrics don’t have enough body for certain styles while others may be too heavy for a particular style of treatment. Do you have the time to maintain custom drapery? If you have children or pets, you may want to consider hard treatments such as blinds, shutters or shades.
